They took time to produce, all by hand , and cost about $3.00 each in 1950. usually sold in sets of 4 or 8. All Gio Ponti is collectible and scarce. His work was innovative for the time and of high quality. All catalog order Murano glass is sizzling hot right now in the collectible market. Bowls done in candy cane pattern are somewhat scarce and were not made in large quantity. They were usually ordered from the catalog. These pieces were not a typical window souvenir purchase. These date back as far as 1950 and were never mass produced. SCARCE. Price: $500.00 USD

Appears to be radium glass , which was an experimental finish similar to carnival glass used in Europe in the 1920's and early 30's. i would have to consider this piece extremely rare as I have never seen anything like it before. If you know what it is please pass on more information. Could be a sample of Millersburg glass as well, as many pieces from this maker are routinely found in Canadian estates for some reason. Beware of fake signed Loetz glass , the photo in this picture listing is a great example of how Loetz signatures should be. Most signed Loetz pieces are very high quality and were used in exhibitions and shows to differentiate whose glass was what and whom it belonged to . It was not a standard to sign every Loetz piece that came out of the factory, actually very little actually was. Loetz was the predominant earliest maker of high quality iridized glass which in turn inspired Tiffany and all the others . they made a LOT of Glass. Lots of Loetz is rather bland , ugly and worthless while other pieces demand a kings ransom. It is better to own one nice piece of Loetz than a large collection of worthless generic pieces . Collect what you like when it comes to Loetz , avoid damaged items and know your market. Price: $4,750.00 USD
