Leon Bureau , alternate inscriptions Bureau, L Bueau or Bureaud , 1866 - 1906. All bronze sculpture of very definitive detail, not a recast. Circa somewhere between 1896 and 1906. Signed by both Bureau and Tiffany & co, which would have been at the 15 Union Street address in New York. Bureaud studied at Ecole des Beaux - Arts , Paris, France and studied under Alexandre Falguiere. From the young age of 18 Leon was already exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris. Buread won a Gold Medal at the 1900 Paris Exhibition for his bronzes. After 1900 he was rather special commissioned to do Equestrian groups for elite horse owners. And to sandwich it all in , was commissioned by Tiffany & Co to produce this bronze of a nesting grouse. Though pheasants are known by Bureaud , this appears to be a grouse as mentioned , the former owner said it was a Partridge , so it might be one of those three, but if a pheasant , it would be a baby one at that. Measures 6 " by 4 " by 91/2 " high. Beautiful condition , with some brassoed sections that could require fine tuning. Due to Bureaud's short life span, all examples by this artist are considered rare. His record price stands at about $38,000.00 USD for a horse grouping. Leon Bureaud should easily be recognized as a top 20 French Animalier. Offers considered , cash and trade for something also possible on this one . There has been a sudden surge for fine bronzes, modern art , rare art glass and the like . I barely bid this spectacular piece into inventory. A rare item , possibly unique.

French circa 1894 - 1905, cast bronze . measures 6 " long by 3 " wide. First class casting of wheat sheaves on both sides. Migneaux is known to have made elaborate lamps, desks sets, figural bronzes , trays and the such. The sad thing is the real lack of information on this fellow. A true bronze master craftsman. His lamps are known to have fetched over $8,000 at auction , items such as this are as equally beautiful and priced much more reasonably . Scarce.

MUSEUM QUALITY ART NOUVEAU BRONZE JARDINIERE Find of the Year !!!

An absolutely mesmerizing open-ended ( top & bottom ) lotus bulb bronze. Measures 14 1/2 " high , 8 " diameter at the bottom and 4 1/2 " diameter at the top. Two piece casting construction , the tentacle section is one piece and the bulb is another casting. This is a new Canadian discovery item which hasn't seen the light of day for many years. Musty smelling , cobwebs still inside and some faint hints of old beigey paint spray. There are no names , writings , markings or stampings of any kind. Upon purchase the previous owner , custodian thought that it was a bronze lamp base. Though possible , there is no indication whatsoever of that intention. It appears to be a decorative console or side table jardiniere. In my best opinion , it would qualify as a custom made cane holder. Totally striking in looks and appearance , this bronze epitomizes the Art Nouveau era. Probably circa 1902 to 1906. The casting and patination is " A " quality. Though I haven't encountered much of Art Nouveau items recently, this item certainly hits a home run and then some. I've never seen another ! Certainly " FIN De SIECLE " . The best fresh to market piece of Art Nouveau I have seen in over 25 years. For the refined connoisseur . Offers preferred .
