Images of bamboo trees and birds . Excellent condition. Earliest Shippo pieces are mostly found signed. This is either the date, the company or the designer. As I can't read Japanese calligraphy lettering, I'll have to do further research as to what the stamping says. All I do know from a colleague is that after 1900 they weren't signed as much, or not at all. I recall that it might be an export marking ? Anyways, it's a nice large piece of turn of the century decorative arts from Japan. Price: $179.00 USD
