Limited quantities available. The 1970 coinage was the lowest mintage coinage produced until some issues of 1991. Collectors often putting together sets from pocket change will find that the last dates to come across are the coins from 1970. This is because they were minted in substantially lower quantities. The P/L set is a viable way to get all the coins from this year in spectacular uncirculated condition. They are in close to " proof " quality condition, thus they are called prooflikes. They were specially struck this way at the mint. Sometimes a coin was so well struck that even experts will argue whether the coin is a true Proof as opposed to a prooflike..... and most rightfully so ! These sets are superb quality and have rarely been outside of the envelope. Often sets would come out of the envelope , be shown around, banged on tables, etc.... often dinging the coins through the package and thusly lowering the grade or condition. These sets offered show no signs of extended handling.

Sold as a pair only. Excellent coin study pieces for your local coin club. First is a well circulated 1919 George V fifty cent piece made by the die-transfer process struck in lead and heavily silvered. The second coin is even more interesting , it is a silvered Elizabeth LARGE BUST CARIBOU 25 cents struck in lead. The bust & caribou look original die quality , however there is no reeding or beading or date present. I am figuring this item to be organized crime to pilfer cigarettes from vending machines before the sensers got more sophisticated. Fascinating stuff to say the least.
