The art nouveau accented handles are simply tremendous. It is a wonder how these decorative handles have remained intact for 100 years. This was before the Exhibition was called the Canadian National Exhibition or the CNE. The interior emblem is enamelled metal showing the Princess gates , which still stands today. CNE archive collecting is an amazing area of study. Though I've never seen an early candy dish like this, there are lots of other neat things to find such as ruby glasses with various descriptions, Indian bead items and the ever popular CNE Medals shaped like a tombstone. Measures 13 1/4 " high and is about 4 " wide give or take. Excellent condition. The top rim has a little waviness that can be straightened out with a bit of effort. There are 3 very old paint spraylets on the body that are removeable. The underside is marked " B " . This piece is highly attributable to C. Dresser by the simplistic " B " mark and 3 - legged design. Many of his andirons from the same time period reflect the same simple letter or number coding as well as the signature three feet. Any way you look at it, this vase fully defines the aesthetic movement from about 1868 - 1900. RARE. Price: $375.00 USD
