What went wrong with the grading here ? This is a simply outstanding chocolate brown New Brunswick halfpenny token. Mark and circulation free. There is a wisp of cabinet friction over the hair and ear on the obverse only. This shouldn't demote this coin to a circulated grade. Looks like a matte specimen !

I always say grade the coin and not the holder. Sometimes and hopefully most of the time the holder grade will be correct or in agreement with the coin, but often the grade is not. This coin needs to be reassessed for grade. Flawless surfaces, no chatter and original colour. Proper grade is a premium 62 or 63. This is Canada's first dime , struck before the Civil War. There was no electricity, no plastic, no cars, just oil lamps and horses. It is a wonder that this coin survived all these years looking like this in such a harsh and cold country. A very tough coin to find looking like this with such rich toning and colour. Serious offers considered.

A scarce variety of the 1859 narrow " 9 " issues. Most of these varieties are the result of retooling or overpunching old and worn out dies. They were used only temporarily until new fresh dies were cut, which usually didn't take too long to produce. Most of the double punched coins circulated pretty heavily, making mintstate pieces very expensive for collectors. Trends $125.00.

Owning any Victorian specimen should be a Canadian Coin Collection centrepiece. The larger the better. This coin is one of the best. First , it is undergraded and looks like a FULL PROOF 65. The fields and devices are blameless. The fields itself are flat as mirror glass. Mark free and problem free. Typical London Mint quality. Double struck and as frsh as it was 140 years ago, which is a surviving feat alone by itself. This coin is a collection all on its' own. Available by appointment at the Torex Coin Show.

A very beautiful near gem 25 cent piece. Has rich pastel toning from years being inside an old paper flip, so call it paper toning. Housed in a 2nd generation PCGS Holder in excellent well cared for condition. The reverse shows as a true gem ! Appears to be an early full strike as well. Rare in such a high grade. ALL mintstate Victorian quarters in MS 64 are very rare indeed. Only 50 or so quarters of all dates have gotten this high. All population reports now have excess doubling of coins so true numbers can never be established now. A highlight for a quality type set collection. Trends for $4,000.00 CDN . Available by appointment at next Torex Show.
Price: $3650.00 CDN
