Whoever made this piece forgot to put kiln spacers underneath when firing, resulting in a rougher bottom edge, which has been left alone. Marked with the Royal Doulton lion stamp, + " PATENT " , FT , 7827 B . 2 d / ? and BS. The Heliosine factory was known for executing superb masterpieces of Art Nouveau and Secessionist pottery wares for many high end retailers and wholesalers. Items in this art form are quite rare and still well undiscovered by many decorative arts collectors. Production of this material ended by the start of World War 1 . Mint condition pieces are truly rare as a large majority were damaged during the war years. This bowl vase must have given inspiration to the American pottery houses such as Grueby & Teco. A masterpiece from the Art Nouveau era. Rare.
