Eero studied alongside Charles and Ray Eames and also one of the Knolls as well. Famous for his tulip chairs in the original Star Trek series and designer of the St. Louis Arch. Born in Finland but later became an American citizen. This comport is made of NON -MAGNETIC metal. The base looks like highly polished 304 stainless steel , however the top conical section seems mort like a quadruple chrome on brass. No brassing however. I cannot determine the metal otherwise without doing damage to the piece. Sold as non-magnetic metal. The base is 3 1/2 " wide , the hieght is 5 1/2 " high and the top is 6 1/2 " in diameter. Signed on the base AS - USA Des pat pend. The AS might be his wife Aline' s signature. And possibly made as a commemorative series after his death. High quality, very futuristic and definately a masterpiece in its' own right. No damage, near mint or better . circa 1959 - 1960's. Price: $265.00 CDN

Both pieces are in perfect condition but for a … Circa 1967 to 1969 but other collectors say as early as 1965. Made in Novy Bor, Czechoslovakia about 200 miles north of Prague. Both pieces are in perfect condition but for a little base wearing. Both are marked in acid stamp " Exbor - Czechoslovakia ". Both measure 3 1/2 " square by 3 " high. One square is more or less an ashtray as it has wheel engraved anti-roll indents for cigarettes. The other one has no wheel engraving. The one with the wheel engraving is made with aluminum and silver oxide powder decoration, buried in a cobalt blue sommerso. The unengraved square bowl is made with aluminum and gold oxide decoration. Designed by Pavel Hlava, who was born in the 1920's and died about 8 years ago. Understand that Exbor label is totally different from the Egermann glass label. Egermann made traditional Moser style glass, while Exbor was a highly experimental and moderist domain that was highly acclaimed at all glass exhibitions in Europe and the USA. Exbor was miles ahead of the competition. Pavel Hlava also used an acid stamped monogram " HP " in a circle on his pieces, but he must have lost it early on because so few pieces are signed with it. This pair does not have his monogram stamp, just the Exbor stamps. The design has a resemblance to early space exploration as well. This Exbor pair is a phenomenal offering perhaps never to be repeated. This is truly the best of the best in art glass and far exceeds much of the work done at Murano by their glassmasters.
