Published in Canada, late 1915 by L. T Myers & John Winston Co., Toronto. Editor notes that this book was made in " Haste " and is subject to revisions. Contains 32 spectacular illustrations and photographs. Covers how trench warfare was fought, how to survive, how quickly many people were killed , where the battles were, etc, etc. The stories are so life-like and real.....and so it should be as these stories are fresh first hand accounts. This book puts to shame all the modern refences made to the first world war. The stories here actually put you in the trenches yourself . Fascinating reading.

Written by Thomas Clarkson, M.A. Mr. Clarkson was also a public figure in the early uprising and abolishment of the slave trade which led up to the Civil War in 1860. Published in New York City , 111 Water Street in 1806. Quakerism was a strict Brethren gathering much like the Plymouth Brethren. They associtaed themselves with much legalisms as interpreted from the Bible. All are touched upon such as what clothing to wear, what type of furniture to have and how meetings are to be conducted. Practically anything that was " fun " was forbidden , such as novels, dancing, gaming, gambling, types of music and practically everything else under the sun was included in that as well. The book is in sound very fine to excellent condition. The pages are still secured in the premium leather binding. The inner cover pages are spotted with age. Near the back some of the pages are water stained, but not badly. There is a small worm hole on the back cover. Overall I would give it a 7 / 10 on a survival rating scale. This is an extremely important and rare reference into the early church meetings of the people commonly known now as the " Quakers " . Superb and excellent and informative reading, NOT THE LEAST BIT BORING ....and very easy to read. Measures a nice 5 " by 8 " by 1 " thick and not very heavy.
