Circa 1927 for the Paris exposition in Madrid , Spain. Adolphe Rivet lived from 1855 - 1908 , but his medallic sculptural work lived on throughout the 1920' s and 1930's. His portraits are world famous and have been found on French coins, medals, medallions and pattern coinage. Out of the several hundred talented medalists of the turn of the century in France, Rivet is most certainly in the top 10. These medals are very rare and seldom encountered anywhere. production number is unknown but these are the first 2 that I have ever encountered. Measures 58mm diameter, silver plated bronze. No box of issue or known to exist.

Circa 1880 - 1900. The best inkwell that I have handled in over 25 years. This is a two part casting fitted together as a unit with brass screws at the bottom. Depicting an owl hovering over a young goat. Possibly Masonic. Superb detail and made to the highest quality standards. No makers name or origin. Possibly British or Austrian. The eyes of the owl are glass. One glass eye has a hairline crack. Missing the inner glass or porcelain ink reservoir. Needs a good cleaning as there is old Brasso residue in the nooks and crannies. The owl as an inkwell is known to the collector community, but I have never seen the owl with another bronze figural piece such as this. Extremely rare and worthy of the best inkwell collection. Offers considered. Measures 6 " by 5 " by 6 " roughly.

Circa 1913 . Signed Dingwall , Made in Winnipeg. Donald Ross Dingwall was an avid Artisan and high quality jeweller In Winnipeg , Manitoba. His building was located on Albert Street in Winnipeg, which is now an historical landmark. Dingwall frequented Europe and had a love of the decorative arts. As a large and prominent figure in Manitoba, Dingwall wished to promote the Canadian West with this Bronze Buffalo Bison. He collected bronze figures from other European Animaliers. This bronze exhibits the highest standard of bronze work known in Canada. All examples are extremely rare and were made for only a short period up until WW I . Another competitor got into bronze animal manufacturing called " Trepels ", which are equally rare , but of far less quality. D R Dingwall was part of the Winnipeg Travelling group that eventually boarded The RMS Titanic, but himself never had a ticket or boarded the ship. No Dingwall bronzes are currently in the Winnipeg Art Gallery . What is so obscure about this bronze is that it is stamped " Austrian style " , but stamped Winnipeg as opposed to Manitoba or Canada. An extremely important piece of Canadian artwork. Over 100 years old. Measures 8 " long by 5 " high by 3 " width. ( TPICAL code 0651 )

A superb piece. Looks like Tiffany Furnaces quality, but not marked. Measures 2 ' high by 4 " diameter. The inside has been polished and cleaned as it most likely was full of black cigar scum. This is an acceptable process and cigar ashes over time can possibly be a contaminate to bronze metal. The outside is all original and still adorns the period patina. Exact age unknown but probably dates from 1910 - 1920. The texturing of the bronze on the outside is stunning and exquisite. A first class item. Will fit into any high end bronze or decorative arts collection. Quite striking for the price offered and maybe under rated.
