No # 3 sized lure measuring 2 1/2 " long. Has the original permanent treble hook still attached , which is down to its' last barb. Has full dark patina on the front. A little battle worn but still very dapper for such an early pre-Civil War lure. These lures just keep getting better and better. One good lure is still a better acquisition than many less important or more common lures.

I almost forgot to list last years " find of the year ", but here it is. For tackle collectors out there , old fine tackle still exists buried in peoples houses, though not much and few and far between, it is STILL OUT THERE. This is a 1 7/8 " diameter face , unmarked constant click check trout winch. Fully working and in excellent condition for its' age with wonderful patina. Only note is one brass pin on the reel foot that is missing and should be left alone. Has original bone or ivory handle. The reel foot is very crude and might appear as a transitional move away from the rounded early clasps that would go around the rod butt. The brass pinned construction would most likely rule this reel out being an early Haywood from 1801 to 1812, as Haywood was already using screws. Ustonson was still using brass pins at the same time period. Worthy and very important to note is that the handle is OPPOSITE the side of the check mechanism, which is a characteristic of practically ALL pre-1800 London tackle makers , and also characteristic of early Haywoods and Ustonson's. I'm outright concluding that the reel is Georgian era based on these features. 18th century makers Gimble and Patten come to question, a Haywood prototype or an unmarked Ustonson could all be candidates for the maker ; or someone else totally. Early Georgian tackle, or 200 year old tackle is a still very vibrant spot for collectors and is a hot market , with low supply and plenty of interest. I'm very happy to offer an early piece of fishing tackle as my " Find of the year " - 2017. extra information and inquiries welcome .

A nice condition Detroit Bass caller from the 1930's. measures 3 5/8 " long. In nice condition and hardly used. It does however have thick and heavy crazing lines from heat and moisture exposure. It is very sound and looks very " wet " . Paint on these lures was very generous making crazing a known condition with these lures. The bottom of the fins has some paint loss as well , this is a very sensitive area. The top paint on the back wings is practically all there. Overall a very nice collectable lure.
