Measures 4 " in diameter. Brass, hard rubber and nickel-silver rims construction. Has a constant check mechanism that is in need of oiling. One side of the reel foot is harshly filed , while the other side is just minorly & lightly adjusted. The handle knob is loose from usage. Neatly engraved " Kelly & Son - Dublin " ....which is from Ireland. The back rubber plate has some cracking in the upper section of the rim as shown. Overall very fine condition and very scarce. No missing parts or materials and all original. Circa 1885.

Signed and stamped " Lucas INV " , marketed by R. Ramsbottom of Manchester, UK. Circa 1870 - 1886. 3 1/4 " wide by 1 1/4 " wide. All original, no missing parts or substitute screws. Horn handle. No evidence of foot filing. The constant check mechanism is all but worn out, but still lightly evident. A very nice reel from a desirable Scottish maker. Very Scarce. It is hard to imagine reels like this urviving over the years without getting recycled at the metal scrap yard.

The only one of its' type that I have ever seen. The reel rotates through 180 Degrees for either right or left handed retrieve. The back plate is 3 " diameter. All brass construction except the spool , which is aluminum. Cogged gear multiplier mechanism. No makers markings, however the notched screw port in the spool points this reel to Mallcoh. Unique and very rare. Circa 1883.
