An extremely rare lure made by Krantz and Smith in 1909. This lure makes every list of top 5 most valuable baits known. The auction record price for a bait of this type is $36,450. Only about 13 to 17 of these lures are known , making it rarer than a Haskell minnow , but historically not as valuable as the Haskell was made in 1859. This lure is in excellent condition. The spring loaded hooks work. Made of brass and copper. No box. Measures around 4 " long , it extends further out a little when the hooks are set. This bait is essentially a collection in itself. Now 114 years old. Serious Offers considered.

An all brass single action early fishing reel by Hendryx Company , USA. Diameter is 1 3/8 " with a stamped 25 yards line capacity. It is in excellent condition with no damage and lots of orignal patina. It is stamped as well for the patent of " Nov 24, 85 ". This is a rare patent stamp for the early Hendryx series. **** More frequent sen dates are he ones as follows, Oct 26, 88 , July 10, 88 , Sept 15, 89 & Jan 27 , 91. So this reel having an 1885 patent date might make this the earliest of the single action series brass reels made by the Hendryx Company. It would be really neat to see a collection of the whole brass series with as many different patent dates as possible. I believe that there is also a May ??, 88 patent date as well as I sold one about 11 years ago on a different online site.

Circa 1914 or possibly earlier. Measures a tad over 3 1/4 " long. Has no cork or metal covering tab. The design only allows for a cock stop which could indicate an early design after the Welsh & Graves minnow tubes. The later Pfeiffer's and Detroits had a closed end capping system with the wire-through concept which retained the covering, thus not getting it lost while fishing. This tube has a copper wrapped wire lead at the end , and not at the front. No damage and in excellent condition for a glass lure of all things. Extremely rare and worthy of a very fine tackle collection.

Mint on spool and unused. The line has discoloured from dust on the outside wrap. Rain Beau fishing lines were an American fishing line company based in the Boston, Massachusetts area during the post war years. They were known to used pretty girls in bathing suits in their magazine ads to help promote sales of their famous " NYTWIST " lines. This spool is a rare CANADIAN version called " BLACK KNIGHT " line produced by the Schindler Company of Canada under business license of Rain Beau lines. Schindler was based in New Toronto or " Mimico " on the west bank of the Humber River. They were the main supplier of braided fishing line for Inglis Shakespeare, the Canadian Shakespeare venture. ( Since our dollar was worth more than the American dollar back then why not eh ? ). This company must have been really busy in the 1950's and most likely dropped most of their " small spool sales " and exclusively did bulk shipments of line to Shakespeare instead. This is probably so because this line on spool is exceedingly rare, even rarer unused. Dates 1946 to 1949. The " Japan Silk Lines logo " is superb, the Black KING side has a small crack near the ' NG " in king , however I am not sure if it is surface or through. Further investingating of this is certainly out of the question. It is marked 20 lbs test, however , this line is more like 60 lbs test. A very rare and desirable spool. I have looked for over 15 years for another mint spool or near equivalent and have come up empty handed.

A fairly choice bait in about near mint condition. Made by ALW, Toronto in Tenite material with glass eyes. Has the 1950's style marked ALW lip. Retains surface rigging hardware. Has light box rubbing from bouncing about it its' original plastic coffin. Has a few spots of white on the red nose. Will fit into a very high quality collection just on the merit of the colour pattern alone. Despite being in the heart of ALW lure country , whether I go to an antique mall , an estate auction or via email, you just do not see these lures in tenite in this colour pattern. I've had over 300 cold call emails of people offering me lures, but never a decent tenite Pikie this desirable. The plastic case is marked " P 337 " directly into the plastic. Seldom seen and scarce as such. Special order colour ALW Tenite Pikies can range in the $400 - $600 range if they are decent , and when they are found. This lure offered isn't special order, but wasn't made in large quantities either.

Made by the Holland Manufacturing Company from Willimantic , Conn , and patented March 7 , 1876. Measures 7 " long and practically of all brass construction. Connecticut fly fishermen were the elitist in the USA and fished the finest rods and had all the finest made gadgets to go with their fishing ensemble. This line tester is certainly off the charts. Made in very small numbers and sold in tackle shops in the vicinity. This instrument was carefully made and calibrated to test the strength of silk fly lines. Extremely rare and worthy of the finest fly fishing collection.
