A … The McChevy family is a third generation carving family from Britt, Ontario near the French River. Their collection and accumulation of decoys up until now has been off the open market. A prominent Barrie , Ontario dealer picked up about half the available strings and they have subsequently been sold off to collectors quite quickly. Many generic ducks remain available for a small price each, howeve; it was the nicely carved and painted pieces that went for good money first. This is one of the last of the better pieces that I was happy to obtain. All original paint, slightly turned head with an offset carved tail. Nice plummage feather paint as well. Nice egg yolk glass eyes, weighted bottom. You'll notice a repair of three metal pins in the side from a crack that formed. This was well done and is part of the ducks history. SEVEN PICTURES IN TOTAL. This decoy dates from 1940 to 1946. I am still in the process of gathering names and places and other information pertaining to the McChevies. This decoy serves an importance as being a very far north duck decoy carving district. Price: $185.00 USD
