Breton # 508 , mintmark " T " not noted. Nicely toned and very sharp for the grade. I remember 30 years ago at JA Auctions that these coins went for $350 - $425 every time one went up for sale. They are not quite as expensive now, but still a nice relic of Canada's earliest circulating coinage. A much rarer coin as this coin was only minted for three years with this mint mark.

Notes from this bank are rare in any grade. Underrated in the Charlton catalogs for years. Easy to learn history about this bank online. The gradual bail-ins by other banks allowed most banknotes to be slowly redeemed back over a 4 year period. Thusly remaining issued notes are very tough to come by. Between 1874 and 1884 Federal notes were almost treated as Government money and had wide acceptance across Ontario, especially since other banks at this time had already gone sour , legal paper notes were probably relatively scarce. Going on 145 years old. examples in the Canadian currency collection are about the same condition wise. Grades about VG to VG. RARE .
